The 18th of June (26th of Sivan in the Hebrew calendar) this year marks a particularly auspicious day for many Jews who have been desperately waiting to find their soulmate. It marks the anniversary of the death of the holy and great Rabbi Yonatan Ben-Uzziel, one of the 80 Tannaim (Torah leaders) from the Mishnaic period who was a student of Hillel the Elder. His sacred tomb in Amuka is a popular and famous site for single men and women to pour their hearts out in prayer for marriage.

Rabbi Yonatan Ben-Uzziel said on his deathbed that anyone who fervently wished to find their spouse and marry them should pray by his grave and it would be granted within the year. Since then, individuals who had fruitlessly searched for their match for many years have described miraculously meeting them not long after their visit to Amuka, praising Rabbi Yonatan Ben-Uziel as their Shadchan (matchmaker).

Amuka is located in the Galilee near Tzfat in the north of Israel. The 26th of Sivan is the day that Rabbi Yonatan Ben-Uzziel passed away, thus becoming a time for public celebration and prayer in his memory.
