Rabbi Yosei was an Amorah from the third generation of Amoraim (the sages of the Gemarah), who lived in Israel.
Rabbi Yosei had a mare which he would rent out on a daily bases. The Gemarah states that at the end of each day, the mare, on its own, would return to Rabbi Yosei, with the daily payment on its back. One day, the person who rented the mare forgot a pare of sandals on its back, to his amazement, the mare stood in one place and did not return to her owner, as usual, since she was unable to carry home sandals that did not belong to her owner, Rabbi Yosei of Yokrat.
Rabbi Yosei of Yokrat is buried in the Galilee between Tsfat and Meron.
