Rabbi Nachman was one of the Ba’al Shem-Tov’s disciples. His son married Feiga, the Ba’al Shem-Tov’s daughter, and their son was Rebbe Nachman of Breslov. Therefore, Rabbi Nachman of Horodenka was the grandfather of Reb Nachman of Breslov.
The Ba’al Shem-Tov addressed him in the words: “Ne’eman Beiti Kados Ve’Tahor” which means “the loyal, holy and pure person”.
All his life, Rabbi Nachman was involved with the redemption of captives and collected a lot of money for this cause. He moved to Israel in the year of ת”ק, but still visited abroad a couple of times, such as when the Ba’al Shem-Tov passed away.
Part of his works were published in the book “Degel Machane Efraim”.
He passed away in 1765 and was buried in Tiberias.
