Rabbi Akiva was one of the greatest Tannanim who lived during the time of the Beit Hamikdash and witnessed its destruction. He was the student and served Nachum of Gamzu for 22 years.
Rabbi Akiva was the Rabbit and instructor of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai (Rashbi), Rabbi Meir, Rabbi Yehuda and many others, and was one of the ten great rabbis who were killed by the Romans – “Asara Harugei Malchut”.
