Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzatto was born in Padua, Italy. His father, Rabbi Ya’akov, was among the most respected and wealthy people in Italy.

He wrote many books but his main work was “Mesilat Yesharim” (“The Path of the Just”), which is considered to be the main book of the “Mussar” movement. A few of his other books are: “Lashon Limudim”,  “LaYesharim Tehilla”, “Migdal Oz”,”Derech Chochma”, “Derech Tevunot”, “Klach Pitchei Chochma” and more. Besides all the above, he also wrote poetry.

The Ramchal moved to Israel, settled in Akko and was given great respect by the people there.

He died in 1746 at a young age. He and his family died in a plague and he was buried in Tiberias.
