Rabbi Isaiah Segal Horowitz learnt Torah in the Yeshiva (school for Jewish studies) of Prague, Lublin and Krakow and was the student of Rabbi Avraham.

The Sh’lah published his father’s book “Emek Ha’Bracha” and included in it his own commentary on the book.

Following the death of his wife, the Sh’lah moved to Israel and was appointed to serve as the chief rabbi of Jerusalem. At that time he also wrote his main book: “Shnei Luchot Ha’Brit”.

He was persecuted by Ebn Faruch, who sent him to jail along with 14 other people. They were redeemed later but this caused him to move to Tsfat and then on to Tiberias. After finishing his book, the Sh’lah sent it back to Prague, to his sons.

He passed away in 1630 and was buried next to the Rambam.
